MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Thursday, September 18, 2025 due to Tropical Depression Mirasol or the expected nationwide transport strike.

    • Mapandan – all levels, public

Schools

  • University of the East (UE)
    • Graduate School and College of Law: Online modality for Thursday and Friday
    • CDent: Doctor of Dental Medicine/DMD Clinics and Master of Science in Dentistry/MScD Clinics will be on face-to-face modality for Thursday and Friday. CDent classes will be online synchronous on both dates.
    • CAS Mla, CCSS, CEduc, and CEng'g Mla: Online Synchronous for Thursday and Asynchronous for Friday
    • CAS Cal., CBA Mla., CBA Cal., CEng'g Cal., and CFAD: Online Synchronous for Thursday and Friday

According to state weather bureau PAGASA's 8:00 PM update on Wednesday, Tropical Depression Mirasol maintains its strength and is now over Apayao.

At 7:00 pm today, the weather disturbance was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Calanasan, Apayao.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northern Isabela, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, eastern and northern Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, and northern Ilocos Sur.

In December 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) released revised guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools during natural calamities.
