MANILA, Philippines – Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) further intensified on Monday, September 22, 2025, as it shifted westward and moved closer to the Babuyan Islands, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 8:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA reported that as of 7:00 a.m., the eye of Nando was located 180 km east of Calayan, Cagayan, based on available data, including readings from the Aparri Doppler Weather Radar.
The typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 215 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 265 km/h, and a central pressure of 910 hPa.

Wind and Rainfall Impacts
PAGASA warned of varying levels of wind impact depending on the TCWS level:
- Extreme damage possible in areas under Signal No. 5
- Significant to severe impacts in areas under Signal No. 4
- Moderate to significant impacts in areas under Signal No. 3
- Minor to moderate impacts in areas under Signal No. 2
- Minimal to minor impacts in areas under Signal No. 1
Apart from direct effects, Nando is also enhancing the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing widespread rains and strong to gale-force winds across Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

- Sept 22: Metro Manila, Central Luzon (non-signal areas), CALABARZON, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Region
- Sept 23: Metro Manila, Central Luzon (non-signal areas), CALABARZON, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Dinagat Islands
- Sept 24: Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Panay Island
Track and Intensity Outlook
- Nando will continue its westward movement towards the Babuyan Islands, with a possible landfall or close approach between noon and early afternoon today.
- The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday morning, September 23.
- It may maintain or slightly intensify before its closest approach to the islands.
