In a heartfelt X post, Mendoza dismissed the accusations as “baseless” and urged the public to stop hurling hate toward Atayde, herself, and their family.

She emphasized that her husband has been working earnestly for his constituents since he took office, and that it is “unfair” to accuse innocent people without proof.

Her message read: “Teka lang muna, those are baseless allegations… I am with my husband in this. Wala siyang ginagawang masama sa loob.”

Atayde, who was among the lawmakers named by contractor Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II in the Senate Blue Ribbon panel’s hearing on Monday, also issued a firm denial.

The actor-turned-politician declared through Instagram Stories that he “categorically denies” benefiting from any contractor connected to DPWH projects.

He stressed that he has “never dealt with them” and described the accusations as completely untrue.

Atayde also underscored that he has never used his position for personal gain and vowed to pursue legal remedies to clear his name.

Mendoza, echoing her husband’s stance, expressed hope that those truly responsible would be held accountable while innocent individuals are spared.

Her post quickly gained traction online, with fans and supporters rallying behind the couple.

Meanwhile, the Senate continues its probe into the alleged kickbacks and irregularities in flood control contracts awarded to the Discayas’ firms.

The controversy has sparked heated debate, but Mendoza’s defense underscores her unwavering support for her husband amid the political storm.
