Track and Intensity Outlook

Opong made landfall twice earlier today over San Fernando, Romblon (8:10 a.m.) and Alcantara, Romblon (9:20 a.m.).
It is expected to make another landfall over the southern portion of Occidental Mindoro by noon or early afternoon today, before emerging over the Mindoro Strait tonight.
On its current track, Opong is projected to move towards the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow, September 27, in the afternoon.
PAGASA warns that heavy rains, severe winds, and storm surges may still be felt in areas beyond the storm’s direct landfall path.
The system is likely to remain a severe tropical storm while crossing Mindoro but may re-intensify once over open waters in the West Philippine Sea.
