MANILA, Philippines – Classes on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, have been cancelled in Metro Manila and 19 other areas due to heavy rains expected from a low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

In Memorandum Circular No. 94-A, Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, by authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., said the move was made upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

This list of class suspensions will be updated as soon as local or national authorities make their advisories.

10. Catanduanes
11. Masbate
12. Northern Samar
13. Eastern Samar

16. Bulacan
17. Nueva Ecija
18. Pampanga
19. Batangas
20. Cavite

Bersamin clarified that agencies involved in delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are directed to continue operations and provide necessary assistance despite the suspension.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary said local government units (LGUs) outside the covered areas may also declare work and class suspensions depending on the weather situation in their localities.

Bersamin noted that for private companies and offices, the decision to suspend work is left to the discretion of their respective management.

The circular took effect immediately, with Malacañang urging the public to stay vigilant and prioritize safety during the expected heavy rains.
