Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to intensify peace and order measures in the province.

“Tama lang na imbestigahan iyan para malaman natin ang puno’t dulo niya at kinukondena natin ang mga karahasan na ito,” Castro said during a Malacañang press briefing on Friday.

The victim, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was left critically wounded after being shot by motorcycle-riding assailants in Santa Catalina town on August 27. The attackers remain unidentified as police continue their investigation.

Castro reiterated that President Marcos is determined to hold accountable those linked to questionable flood control projects.

“Alam naman natin kung ano ang nais ng Pangulo – makasuhan ang dapat makasuhan, mapanagot ang dapat na mapanagot,” she added, stressing that the Chief Executive wants law enforcers to treat the case with urgency to prevent further crimes tied to the ongoing probe.

Malacañang also encouraged citizens to actively participate in the government’s anti-corruption drive by reporting anomalous infrastructure projects through the Sumbong sa Pangulo platform. The Palace likewise urged the public to expose contractors or individuals living beyond their means.

“Hindi lamang po ang gobyerno ang dapat kumilos, kundi pati ang taumbayan na nakakaalam ng mga nangyayari sa paligid nila,” Castro said.
