MANILA, Philippines – Three people were killed while two others were injured after their van crashed into houses along the highway in San Narciso, Quezon, on Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2025.

Police identified the fatalities as a 62-year-old man, his 57-year-old wife, and the 45-year-old van driver known as “Efren.”
The driver and his passengers—identified as Florencio, 62; Merelyn, 57; and Mary Jane, 48—sustained injuries and were rushed by rescuers to a nearby hospital.
Efren, Florencio, and Merelyn were declared dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Two other passengers, a 46-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, were injured and are now recovering in the hospital.
No one inside the houses was reported hurt.
The van and one of the houses sustained heavy damage.
The accident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. along the San Narciso-Mulanay road in Barangay Abuyon.
Police investigation revealed that the van suddenly rammed into two roadside houses before crashing into a tree.
The impact severely wrecked the front portion of the vehicle.
The passengers suffered multiple injuries across their bodies.
The victims were rushed to the San Narciso hospital, where three of them were pronounced dead on arrival.
According to PSSg Marcelo Calibuso Jr., investigator of the San Narciso police, the family had just come from a beach resort and were on their way home to Pampanga when the incident happened.
Relatives said the driver was exhausted and sleepy after leaving Pampanga at dawn and had also consumed alcohol before the trip back.
Police are conducting a follow-up investigation.
