MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is considering appointing the woman recently dubbed as “Imburnal Girl” or “Sadako Girl” as one of its ambassadors, following her unexpected rise to viral fame on social media.

The woman, identified only as Rose, caught nationwide attention after she was seen emerging from a drainage canal near the intersection of Rufino and Adelantado Streets in Legazpi Village, Makati City — a moment that shocked bystanders and quickly circulated online.
In a media interview, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the agency is looking into the possibility of engaging Rose as a symbol of hope and rehabilitation, aiming to shift public perception of individuals receiving government assistance.

He acknowledged that many street dwellers still refuse aid from the agency due to fear, mistrust, or misinformation. The DSWD hopes Rose can help change that.
To help Rose get back on her feet, the DSWD has pledged ₱80,000 in financial assistance, enabling her to start her dream sari-sari store business.
