Magnitude-4.6 earthquake hits Quezon; felt in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines – (Updated) A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Quezon Province and was felt in nearby regions including Metro Manila on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tremor occurred at 12:17 p.m. and was initially recorded by PHIVOLCS as a magnitude 5.1 before being revised.

The quake struck at a depth of 6 kilometers about 24 kilometers northwest of General Nakar, Quezon.

Phivolcs said the earthquake was of tectonic origin.
