MANILA, Philippines – A 65-year-old man died after collapsing inside a polling precinct shortly after voting in the 2025 midterm elections in Oas, Albay, on Monday, May 12.

The victim, identified by police as Nestor Rensales, lost consciousness at around 6:05 a.m. at the Oas South Central School precinct in Barangay Ilaor Sur, according to Brig. Gen. Andre Perez Dizon, chief of the Bicol Police Regional Office.
Rensales had reportedly told his wife he was feeling dizzy moments before casting his vote. He collapsed immediately after voting.
He was rushed to the Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities noted that Rensales had a medical history of stroke.
