MANILA, Philippines – “Day 27 of 45. HUY SINONG NAGPAGAWA NITO BAT GANYAN?? NAPRESSURE AKONG MAG-REVIEW 😭😭🤣🤣🤣,” Pasig City incumbent Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto joked after seeing the tarpaulin posted by a supporter.

These days, many election supporters are showing support for their favored candidates through posters and tarpaulins displayed outside their homes.

But Mayor Vico had a good laugh over one particular tarpaulin, which made it first appear to be a congratulatory message for his graduation or passing the board exams.

Whoever created Mayor Vico’s congratulatory-themed tarpaulin even showed him in a photo that appears to be wearing a toga. In most tarpaulins congratulating a new graduate or board exam passer, the person is often depicted to be wearing a toga or something clearly related to graduation (such as a barong tagalog and ‘sablay’).

One netizen was quick to reply, “Ayos na yan mayor kesa langit ang background 😅😆.” This refers to funeral tarpaulins often created with a heaven image or sky background.

This comment likely stemmed from viral posts about pranks of birthday tarpaulins in ‘heaven’ backgrounds.

“Top 1 na yan mayor, just prepare n lng for your upcoming impromptu speech 😜🙋,” another supporter joked.

“Ahaha grabe!! Kailan board exam mo sir Mayor Vico Sotto,” another jested.

“Akala ko bagong abogado ka na Mayor Vico😅.. Congratulations Pasig. Sana dumami pa ang tulad mo. God Bless po,” another supporter chimed in.

But because the photo shows the mayor as a new graduate, one netizen seized the opportunity to create a joke based on current events.

“Paki tanggal Po Ng toga nyo mayor 🤣magagalit Po c madam principal ✌️,” the netizen joked, alluding to the incident in Antique wherein a principal asked the new graduates to remove their togas, saying that these aren’t appropriate to use during a graduation ceremony.

Aside from the jokes, though, many netizens expressed support for the young mayor, commenting that they wished they could also vote for him or that he could be the mayor of other places. Others hoped that he would soon become the country’s president.
