In an interview, Christian clarified that Tatay Carlos is not his blood relative but shares only the same surname.

He supposedly proved that age is not a hindrance to achieving one's dreams!

“Hindi po kasi gaano kakilala si Tatay, isa po akong operator ng sound system during the graduation day nila tapos I was shocked and amazed noong nakita ko si Tatay na umakyat sa stage, nakasuot ng toga, at mas lalo po akong na-amazed nang nalaman kong magparehas kami ng apelyido,” he said.

Even the town mayor, Mayor Francis Salimbangon, extended congratulations to the graduate and couldn't help but be impressed by him.

“Carlos Saladaga, more popularly called as ‘Tatay,’ is a 72 year-old student from Muabog, Tabogon who, despite his old age, continued his education and has just graduated Señor High School in Daantabogon National High (School).”

“Tatay Carlos hopes to pursue (an) Agricultural course to teach techniques to farmers. Truly, Tatay Carlos is an inspiration to all of us to keep on going on. Congratulations, Tatay Carlos!” he said.

Congratulations, Tatay Carlos! You are not only an inspiration to your peers but also to the youth, encouraging them to strive even harder in their studies!
