Meggie Ochoa wins Philippines' 2nd gold in 19th Asian Games

MANILA, Philippines – Jiu-jitsu fighter Margarita "Meggie" Ochoa won the Philippines' second gold medal in the 19th Asian Games on Thursday, October 5 at the XSL Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

Ochoa pulled a magnificent comeback from her last appearance at the Asiad, defeating Balqees Abdulla of the United Arab Emirates in the final match of women's –48 kg division.

While keeping her dominant position throughout the match, Ochoa was able to win by advantage, after she got a mount over Abdulla at the 4:32 mark of their bout.

The Philippines is now on 21st place, with 2 golds, 1 silver, and 9 bronze medals in the ongoing Asian Games.

On September 30, pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena delivered the first gold for the country.
