Schedule, where to watch livestream: 2022 AVC Cup for Women

MANILA – The Philippine women’s volleyball team will face powerhouse squads in the 2022 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup for Women starting on Sunday, August 21, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference 2022 Champion Creamline Cool Smashers will carry the flag for the Philippines. They will open the campaign against Vietnam on Sunday.

Team Philippines is composed of PVL Open and Invitational Conferences MVP Tots Carlos, Invitational Finals MVP Celine Domingo, Jema Galanza, Kyle Negrito, Fille Cayetano, Rose Vargas, Jeanette Panaga, Pau Soriano, Michele Gumabao, Ella de Jesus, Kyla Atienza, Rizza Mandapat and Lorie Bernardo.

Creamline-Philippines captain and star player Alyssa Valdez will miss the entire tourney due to dengue. Meanwhile, setter Jia Morado and coach Sherwin Meneses are doubtful to be at the opening game due to health and safety reasons. Middle blocker Risa Sato will not be able to play due to health reasons.

As hosts, Philippines automatically qualified for the tournament, while the remaining 9 teams, qualified from the 2019 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in Seoul, South Korea.

The Philippines is in Group A with Vietnam, Iran, South Korea, and China. Group B teams are Japan, Thailand, Chinese-Taipei and Australia.

The top eight teams after the pool play will advance to the quarterfinals.
