Schedule, livestream: Gilas Pilipinas at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup

MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas' campaign at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup starts on Wednesday, July 13 in a bid to reclaim title after 37 years. Check out here for full schedule and how you can watch all games on TV and livestream.

Gilas Pilipinas at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup
Gilas Pilipinas is back in the continental competition hoping for the first title in 37 years.

Gilas enters the FIBA Asia Cup following a dominant performance in the Asia Cup qualifiers last June 2021, in which they swept their group 3-0, beating teams such as Korea and India.

The event was originally scheduled for August 2021, but a COVID outbreak in host country Indonesia forced its postponement.

Gilas Pilipinas will face Lebanon, India and New Zealand in Group D of the continental competition.

The top team of the group advances to the quarterfinals, while the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will play in a one-game knockout qualification for the quarterfinals.

There are 16 teams in Asia and Oceania competing in the FIBA Asia Cup. This also includes Indonesia, Australia, Jordan and Saudi Arabia (Group A); Chinese Taipei, Bahrain, China and South Korea (Group B); and Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan and Syria (Group C).

China has won the tournament a record 16 times, while the Philippines has won it five times. The last championship for the Philippines was in 1985.

Despite the absence of Dwight Ramos due to medial tibial stress syndrome, or shin splints, B.League imports Ray Parks and Thirdy Ravena, and TNT big man Poy Erram are expected to boost Gilas lineup.
