On Instagram, Dennis shared a handwritten letter for his children. It was a response to the open letter written by Leon who explained why he and his sisters, Julia and Claudia failed to greet him on Father’s Day. According to Dennis, he may not have been there for his children all those years but he kept them in his heart.

“To be your father is the greatest honor I have received. It allowed me to touch the grace of God even for a moment and to see my love made flesh. I have regretfully made mistakes in my life. I may not have been there for you but I always had you in my heart,” he wrote.

The actor shared the regrets he has as a father. He feels regretful for keeping his feelings to himself and for letting the years go by. He said he only wishes that he could spend more time with his children.

“Sometimes in life, there are things that we will never understand why it happened. In the end, I regret all the moments I let slip by. I regret all the times I hid my feelings from you. If I could have but one wish, I would love to spend some time with you. After all there’s not much more to life than that,” Dennis wrote.

Earlier, Leon responded to Dennis’ calling them out for forgetting to greet him on Father’s Day. According to Leon, he knows that their father’s statement would again put them in a bad light and he needed to step up and protect his sisters.

Leon lamented how their father seems to enjoy publicly shaming and hurting his kids. He also said Dennis resorts to “shouting, cursing, and using hurtful words” whenever they try to resolve their issues. He added that his father had been continuously spreading false statements and burning the bridges they are trying to build for years.

Leon wrote, “I long for the day when I can greet you a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ and know that it comes from a place of gratitude and healing.”

In 2021, Julia admitted that she kept trying to build a good relationship with her father. The father and daughter appeared in a vlog where they opened up about their past and present family issues.

In the vlog, Dennis admitted it was his temper and attitude that led to his separation with Julia’s mom, Marjorie. Julia said that despite their “painful history” she tries her best.

“I didn’t ever give up in our relationship. If I had given up, we wouldn’t be talking right now. I kept trying and that was painful for me. I was fighting so hard for our relationship despite all the words thrown at me by my own dad,” Julia said.
