Magnitude 6.4 earthquake hits Occidental Mindoro, felt in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines – (Updated) A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro Monday morning, March 14, 2022, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Magnitude 5.7 earthquake hits Occidental Mindoro, felt in Metro Manila

Phivolcs said it traced the epicenter of the earthquake 107 kilometers northwest of Lubang in Occidental Mindoro. It had a depth of 29 kilometers.

The earthquake, recorded at 5:05:45 AM, was of tectonic origin.

Some parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, Rizal, Pampanga, and Bataan also experienced tremors.

Phivolcs added that while no damage is expected, there may be aftershocks.
