MANILA, Philippines – Marian Rivera revealed on Friday, December 3, that she will be a Miss Universe 2021.
Marian Rivera to judge Miss Universe 2021?

"Minsan ka lang siguro mabigyan ng pagkakataong makabilang sa isang mahalagang okasyon kung saan doon magsasama-sama [lahat], at syempre, bitbit mo 'yung bandila ng [Pilipinas]," the Kapuso Primetime Queen told GMA News.

"So, para sa akin, isang malaking karangalan siya, kaya naman buong-buong puso ko talaga tong tinanggap," she added.

Social media went abuzz earlier after Marian dropped hints that she will take part in the upcoming 70th Miss Universe competition, which will be held in Israel on December 12 (December 13 Manila time). In a simple post on Instagram, pageant enthusiasts quickly realized that Marian could possibly be one of the pageant's judges.

After posting a photo of herself in a red dress, she put a caption that stated, "Honored." It was followed by an emoji of a crown and the universe, along with the hashtag #Grateful.

Fueling the fire to the rumors are the reactions of Marian's celebrity friends. Many already congratulated her. Fans already praised Marian for being a Miss U judge. But the biggest clue would probably come from Marian's husband, Dingdong Dantes, who commented, "Miss U".

Recently, a blind item circulated that the upcoming Miss Universe will have a Filipino judge who is a Kapuso star and a celebrity mom. At that time, many pointed at Heart Evangelista. The actress clarified that she has no judging duties as she will be working in Los Angeles, California this December.

Following the rules of the Miss Universe pageant, there are usually two sets of judges. The preliminary judges will be responsible for choosing the top 20 semifinalists. Meanwhile, the telecast judges are the ones who are presented during the coronation night to select the new Miss Universe.

Marian is scheduled to fly for Israel on December 6.

The Philippines is represented by Beatrice Luigi Gomez, the first openly proud member of the LGBT+ community to win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.
