In the continuing twist of events, PDP-Laban secretary general Melvin Matibag announced on Monday that Duterte will run for senator. The message goes, "PRRD will run for Senator under the political party PDDS." Duterte will become the substitute candidate of a certain Mona Liza Visorde under Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).

Duterte didn't personally file his certificate of candidacy but was represented by lawyer Melchor Jaemond Aranas.

This was also confirmed by Sen. Christopher Go as he revealed that Duterte will not run against his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Over the weekend, the public was faced with a fiasco as political plans of big names were revealed.

Duterte-Carpio confirmed she will be the vice presidential candidate of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. Following this, Go withdrew his candidacy for vice-president and filed for president instead. Go replaced Grepor Belgica, who backed out as standard-bearer of PDDS.

In an interview while Go was filing his candidacy for president, Duterte spoke to the media that he plans to run as vice-president. This is contrary to his earlier statement that he is already set for retirement.

Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, the presidential bet of PDP-Laban also withdrew his candidacy. Thus, the party is now left with no standard-bearer and a vice president.

Go admitted he felt hurt with the decision of Duterte-Carpio to run as vice-president. He added that he also doesn't want Duterte to run against his own daughter.

The presidential aspirant said, "I also don't want him to file for VP. I don't want to get hurt anymore."

"I was already hurt. I have great respect for the president and the family," he added.
