PRC pilots Computer-Based Licensure Examination (CBLE) on Geologist board exam

MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Saturday, October 30, the target pilot implementation of the agency's in-house Computer-Based Licensure Examination (CBLE) System on Geologist board exam.

The Geologist licensure exam (GLE) was chosen as pilot for CBLE considering the manageable number of examinees.

"Upon checking the remaining licensure examinations this year, the Geologists Licensure Examination (GLE) was identified as suitable for the CBLE initial implementation considering the manageable number of examinees of one hundred forty-six (146) to be conducted in two (2) examination venues in PRC Morayta and PRC Philippine International Convention Center," PRC said.

To allow sufficient time for the needed technical and logistical preparations, PRC also decided to reschedule the GLE from November 16, 17, and 18, 2021 to December 27, 28, and 29, 2021.

According to PRC Resolution No. 1440, the computerized licensure exam will also address the postponed/rescheduled licensure examinations due to the present health emergency crisis.

PRC discussed the plans for computerized board exam during the Senate hearing on 2021 national budget of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in October last year.

"We are looking at more technology-based examination. We are preparing for that," PRC Chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr. said.

“We might be able to start with the smaller boards, which will be more manageable,” Pilando added.

The PRC is an attached agency of DOLE.
