Over 1.2M ECQ-affected residents in VisMin receive special AICS

MANILA, Philippines – More than 1.2 million individuals affected by the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Visayas and Mindanao have received their special cash aid under the Special Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

As of August 11, the distribution of special AICS in Iloilo Province, Cagayan de Oro City, and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental has benefited some 312,240 qualified families or 1,248,965 individuals, as the concerned local government units continue to conduct payout activities. This is equivalent to over P1.2 billion funds disbursed for the cash assistance.

The government allotted more than P3.64 billion funds to cover some 3,642,068 individuals who are suffering from the economic disruption due to the declaration of a localized ECQ in the three areas.

Through the special AICS, beneficiaries receive P1,000 cash assistance for each member with a maximum amount of P4,000 per family, based on the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 2, Series of 2021.

The DSWD is committed to provide assistance to families to help them cope with the economic effects of the pandemic.
