MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo wowed at the preliminary competition of the 69th Miss Universe pageant on Saturday, May 15, 2021 (Manila time).
Pinoy pageant fans were all eyes on the preliminaries of the Miss Universe 2020 to join our very own Rabiya to her journey in vying for the Philippines' 5th Miss Universe crown.
During the opening segment, Miss Philippines strutted on the stage wearing a fringed blue Sherri Hill dress. Pinoy netizens quickly shared their enthusiastic support for our very own bet as "AribaRabiya" and "PrelimPina5" trended online.
Looking vibrant in a yellow Ema Savahl Couture swimsuit and Jojo Bragais high heels, Rabiya wowed the audience during the swimsuit competition. She also showed off her "Hala Bira Walk" at the runway. It can be recalled that Rabiya won the Best in Swimsuit at the Miss Universe Philippines competition.
As Rabiya sashayed, her introduction focused on her advocacy on education as well as her interests and hobbies. Rabiya was described as, "Rabiya is currently an ambassador of her country's department of education. This 24-year-old cum laude graduate and rap fan, works as a teacher and enjoys writing stories and acting in her spare time."
Yellow is definitely Rabiya's color as she looked immaculate in a Furne One Amato creation during the evening gown preliminaries. She was also described as a future doctor and her efforts amid the pandemic were mentioned.
"Rabiya has a degree in Physical Therapy but plans to go back to school to become a pediatrician. At the height of the pandemic, this 24-year-old volunteered to make PPEs and coach frontline workers," the Philippine bet was described.
The 69th Miss Universe coronation night will be aired on free TV via ABS-CBN's A2Z channel on Monday, May 17 (Manila time).
