Woman who accused Cebu cop of rape gunned down

Back in March, Ritchie Nepomuceno accused Police Staff Sergeant Celso Colita of raping her twice in a motel in Cebu City. She also filed criminal charges against Colita and 10 other police officers from Sawang Calero Police precinct of extortion after she accused them of raiding her house for firearms but found none. She accused them of extorting her of P170,000.

Nepomuceno further claimed that the cops have a secret detention cell inside their precinct where they torture arrested suspects.

On Monday night, Nepomuceno was shot dead along N. Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City.

Following Nepomuceno's death, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) 7 chief Police Maj. Glenn Hife summoned Colita for his possible involvement. While in question, Colita excused himself to go to the comfort room. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard coming from the CR. Hife rushed to see Colita dead in an apparent suicide. His death was just hours after Nepomuceno was gunned down.

A parallel investigation has been conducted by the Police's Integrity Management and Enhancement Group Visayas Field Unit and the Commission on Human Rights on Nepomuceno's charges against the 11 policemen.

Aside from Colita, the policemen who were relieved from their posts following the charges are:
  • Police Corporal Georny Abrasado
  • Police Corporal John Carl Aceron
  • Police Staff Sergeant Joseph Alcoseba
  • Police Staff Sergeant Michael Rhey Cabizares
  • Police Chief Master Sergeant Eric Edgar Emia
  • Police Corporal Ejill Ferrolino
  • Police Corporal Carlo Irizari
  • Police Corporal Rochelito Mabulay
  • Police Corporal Emmanuel Martinez
  • Police Corporal Junel Pedroza.
