After the failed franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, the network has faced many challenges and changes. In a bid to return to free television, the Kapamilya network inked a blocktime deal with A2Z Channel 11 to air some of its entertainment programs in October last year. Not surprisingly, many of the ABS-CBN talents have also jumped to other networks to continue their careers.

Recently, news of another development caused a stir among supporters of the Kapamilya network. According to seasoned publicist Ricky Lo, ABS-CBN is set to sign a "tie-up" deal with their rival, TV5.

The partnership between ABS-CBN and Cignal-TV5 is supposed to happen "very soon." Cignal, which is a premier DTH satellite provider under the MVP Group, could help widen the reach of ABS-CBN all across the nation.

This should come as no surprise as Cignal has long been airing several ABS-CBN channels such as Kapamilya Channel, Jeepney, Cinemo and Knowledge Channel. If such a deal will be closed, both Kapamilya and Kapatid viewers will surely be pleased. The ABS-CBN network gets to extend its reach and TV5 will soon feature the big Kapamilya names.

While deals are still under wraps, many speculate if it will be a blocktime deal such as the one with A2Z channel. This could also be a big possibility as viewers were surprised to know that many TV5 shows are already on its last few weeks of airing. Many netizens are guessing that TV5 is already on its way to freeing some of its time for the airing of possible new shows.

Brightlight Productions announced Saturday that two of its shows, Sunday Noontime Live and Sunday Kada will end on January 17. While talk shows such as "Chika.BESH" and "Usapang Real Life ni Luchi Cruz-Valdes," have already aired their last episodes early in January.
