MANILA, Philippines – A college student from Pangasinan found the reason to smile even though she is in a hospital as she attends her virtual graduation.

Joelinda Castillo, an Education major from Pangasinan State University - Urdaneta campus attended virtual graduation from a hospital. While she has fractures and injuries, she feels lucky to still be able to attend her graduation after she got into a road accident.

A week before her graduation, Joelinda was hit by an intoxicated motorcycle driver and was rushed to the hospital. The accident left her with fractures in her ribs and in her left ankle. She was eventually discharged from the hospital on the same day of her virtual graduation on Saturday, December 5.

Despite it all, Joelinda just feels lucky to still be able to attend her virtual graduation day. She shared photos of herself while lying on a hospital bed with the messages saying:

"Nakaladkad pero mapalad"
"LPT in the making"
"Late but worth the wait"
"Katas ng OFW"
"PSULANG malakas"


She also shared a Bible verse about holding on to the Lord for strength. Joelinda wrote, "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise him. -Psalm 28:7.

The graduate is now preparing to finally achieve her dreams of being a teacher and take the upcoming Licensure Examination for Teachers soon.
