MANILA, Philippines – Los Baños, Laguna mayor Caesar Perez was shot dead Thursday night, December 3, inside the municipal hall.
Perez, who is also former vice governor of Laguna, was gunned down around 8:40 p.m., police said.
The town mayor sustained gunshot wounds to the head causing him in critical state when he was rushed to HealthServ Medical Center in Los Baños.
The shooting incident was confirmed by Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez.
Earlier, Perez led a seminar on skills enhancement for barangay officials inside the municipal hall.
In March 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte named Perez as one of the narco-politicians in the country. But the town mayor denied the accusation and said the release of the list was "unfair and politically motivated."
"Yan ay politically motivated kasi 2017 pa nag-start yang rumor na yan na ako ay kasama sa drugs so inignore ko lang yan kasi alam ko na hindi totoo yan," Perez said in 2019 interview.
