"The Office of Admissions, like all other units and offices in the University of the Philippines, has had to adapt by operating with only a tiny fraction of its workforce to complete the necessary validation procedures and the final computations of results for over 100,000 UPCAT examinees," UP said in a statement.

"We understand your concern about the pending release of UPCAT 2020 results, but rest assured that the Office of Admissions continues to do its utmost despite severe limitations and challenges. The results are targeted for release within the month of May," it added.

UP also advised takers to disregard any announcement not coming from the UP Office of Admissions.

Recently, Dr. Elena Pernia, UP Vice President for Public Affairs, gave an update on UPCAT 2020 results in an interview with multimedia guru Noel Ferrer on Radyo Katipunan during the talk with academic affairs heads of Big Four schools on quarantine concerns and post-lockdown scenarios in the universities last April 16.

Pernia said the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic affected the processing of UPCAT results. "Medyo natigil ng konti kasi yung lockdown nga hindi pa natapos."

The UP official also assured the pre-results activity is ongoing as they came up with alternative solution. "Ang ginawa namin, sinundo sila mga nagtratrabaho para sa UPCAT. Naka-house sila sa university para gawin yun."

Release of UPCAT 2020 results was originally scheduled on March 30 but was postponed due to ECQ in the National Capital Region.

UPCAT this year was administered on October 5 and 6 in various testing centers across the country.

It is taken yearly by graduating high school students in the Philippines seeking entry into the national university.
