MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will address the nation anew a day after the full effectivity of "community quarantine" in Metro Manila to make new pronouncements on government's efforts to combat spread of coronavirus disease in the country, Senator Bong Go said.
“Maraming mga bagong pronouncement ang ating Pangulo. Abangan n’yo po,” Go said.
Duterte is expected to address the country after his meeting with the military, police and members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said earlier that Duterte announced "enhanced community quarantine." As defined in the released memorandum on Saturday, it means that "strict home quarantine shall be implemented in all households; transportation shall be suspended; provision of food and essential health services shall be regulated; and heightened presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures will be implemented."

Last March 12, the president approved the recommendation of IATF-EID to raise the alert level for the coronavirus to maximum level of Code Red sub-level 2, marking the first massive quarantine in the country in recent history.
The community quarantine, which covers 16 cities and one municipality of Metro Manila, took effect on March 15, 2020 and will last until April 14, 2020.
As mandated, "land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended."
The president also announced extension of class suspension until April 12, 2020. Work in the executive branch is also suspended but skeletal workforces will be formed to maintain delivery of services.
