What an impressive achievement for the Grade 11 student who studies at Holy Rosary College in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. Both Almazan and the younger Gordula got the same standing, winning two gold medals in the competition (one in the individual round and another in the team round) plus a trophy for being the overall runner-up in their respective categories.

Proud dad Hercy Baya Almazan shared his son’s achievements on his social media account. According to the Dad Hercy, this is the second time that the young man spent his birthday away from the family. One was back when he was in Grade 6 when he attended the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad in Cavite.

This second time, the young man spent his birthday in Vietnam – but his birthday gift is truly priceless! And though he is far away from his family, this is certainly the happiest birthday for the younger Almazan!
