MANILA, Philippines – Pinay actress Angel Locsin recently went viral for donating and distributing relief goods to the earthquake victims in Mindanao; particularly in Davao del Sur.
The young actress was even spotted at a local supermarket, shopping for various relief items such as noodles and canned goods to bring to the victims. Dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans, the actress was seen accompanied by fiancé Neil Arce as they shopped for a “truckload” of items, including bottles of water and sacks of rice at NCCC Main Magsaysay, a mall in Davao City.
The relief goods were later distributed to Tulunan, Kidapawan, and Makilala, netizen Roy Gimaro shared.
But unlike many celebrities who just send in money or even goods as donations for various charities, Angel earned praise for actually going to the areas affected by the earthquakes. Using her own money for the goods, then personally distributing the items at the affected areas, the young star would soon earn praise from netizens and be called as a real-life angel.
Even Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chairman and chief executive officer Richard Gordon was all praises for the actress who has actually been regularly helping the non-profit agency since 2009, at the height of Typhoon Ondoy.
Gordon wrote in a Facebook post:
“ANGEL INDEED. Ms. Angel Locsin, together with her fiance, Neil Arce, personally went to our Davao del Sur Chapter to donate and volunteer in the distribution of relief goods and hygiene kits for the quake-hit families.
She has been supporting PRC for a long time and has participated during our relief distributions since Typhoon Ondoy.
Thank you, Angel, for trusting the Philippine Red Cross.”
Thousands of netizens were impressed by her deeds, knowing that everything comes from the heart because she’s been doing this for so long, without asking for anything in return.
“An angel without wings, an angel with open arms and hands that share, an angel with a compassionate heart,” a netizen wrote.
“Angel Locsin is an angel. Most of calamities she always extend her wings to help and now she brings angel arci with her. I hope you'll bring more angels with you,” another netizen added.
