MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Classes have been suspended in several areas for today, August 27, 2019 (Tuesday) due to inclement weather situation brought by Tropical Depression Jenny.

In the 5:00 am weather bulletin today, PAGASA tracked 'Bagyong Jenny' at 395 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 525 km East of Daet, Camarines Norte. It has maximum winds of up to 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving West at 25 km/h.

Tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 (30-60 km/h Expected in 36 hours) is up over 29 areas: Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Cavite, Laguna, Camarines Norte, northeastern portion of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes.

SOUTHERN LUZON

VISAYAS

Between this morning and this evening, intermittent to frequent moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over Bicol Region, Samar Provinces, Quezon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela and Cagayan. Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will affect over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the regions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro.

Between this evening and tomorrow (August 28) morning, intermittent to frequent moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Central Luzon, Metro Manila, northern portion of Quezon (including Polillo Island), Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Benguet, Pangasinan and Rizal. Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains may affect Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.

According to the automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, the local government units (LGUs) have the authority to declare local suspensions in areas where there is no storm signal.
