Typhoon Rosita PAGASA weather update October 27, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – The typhoon with international name "Yutu" entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named "Rosita", state weather bureau announced in its 11:00 am bulletin on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

At 10:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon 'Rosita' was located based on all available data at 1,345 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (17.6 °N, 134.3 °E ).

Typhoon 'Rosita' is moving West at 20 kph. It has maximum sustained winds of 200 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 245 kph.

'Bagyong Rosita' is expected to make landfall over Cagayan – Isabela area by Tuesday (October 30).

PAGASA said 'Rosita' has similarities with Typhoon Ompong in terms of track and strength.

PAGASA also advised of possible hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals over the Eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon on Sunday evening (October 28). TCWS No. 1 may be raised over Metro Manila by Monday evening (October 29).

Moderate to heavy rains directly associated with the Typhoon is expected over Northern and Central Luzon starting Monday evening (October 29).

Strong to very strong winds are expected to affect the Eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon starting Tuesday morning (October 30).

The weather central added that sea travel is risky over the Northern and Eastern seaboard of Luzon and seaboard of Samar provinces.
