'Bagyong Rosita' PAGASA weather update October 29, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – 'Bagyong Rosita' (international name: Yutu) has weakened further as it moves closer to Isabela-Aurora area, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 5:00 am update on Monday, October 29, 2018.

At 4:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon "Rosita" was located based on all available data at 540 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

'Bagyong Rosita' has maximum sustained winds of 170 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 210 km/h. It is moving West Southwest at 15 km/h.

The weather disturbance is expected to make landfall over Isabela-Aurora area by tomorrow morning (October 30).

Tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) No. 2 (61-120 kph expected in 24 hrs) was raised over the areas of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino and Polillo Island. Wave Height (open sea) is at 4.1-14.0 meters and storm surge possible at coastal areas. Stormy weather is expected over these areas.

Signal No. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) is up over 26 areas: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Northern Quezon , Rizal, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite and Camarines Norte.

Strong to very strong winds are expected to affect the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon starting today. Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and in mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with disaster risk reduction and management offices, and to continue monitoring for updates.

Storm surge is possible over the coastal areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with TCWS and the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

'Rosita', the country's 18th tropical cyclone for this year, is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday (November 1).
