It seemed that Manny Pacquiao’s camp has scouted Lucas Matthysse well. As soon as the opening bell rang, Pacman showed La Maquina how quick he is by releasing numerous but short punches and evaded his opponent’s counters to end round 1.

Matthysse is well-known in the boxing industry for being a hard hitter. But come round 2, it was Pacquiao who was throwing and landing hard punches and stiff jabs. Matthysse retaliated by destroying Pacquiao’s defense but the fighting senator was too fast to escapee his adversary’s potential solid punches.

Pacquiao scored an early knocked down on Matthysse at the beginning of round 3 with a short-left uppercut. Pacman looked furious and wanted to end La Maquina in this round. The Filipino landed more significant punches all over the Argentine’s body but the latter survived the onslaught.

Lucas Matthysse tightened his guards at the 4th round with his arms and fists totally covering up his chin to avoid another strong punch and knockdown. It was like Manny Pacquiao fighting Joshua Clottey years ago. With an intensified defense, Lucas Matthysse stood still until the round was over.

Pacquiao was advised by Buboy Fernandez to stop counterpunching but instead hit Matthysse first. Pacquiao heeded on his coach’s plea and scored more punches on Matthysse at round 5. A head shot put La Maquina on his knees for another knockdown point for Manny Pacquiao before the round ended.

Midway of the bout, Matthysse hit Pacquiao below the belt that prompted referee Kenny Bayless to give Pacman a short break to recover and warned La Maquina for the illegal hit. Lucas fought back and landed some pretty good shots at Manny.

Pacquiao got even closer to Matthysse and hoped to sneak a good-short but solid punch on Matthysse. But the Argentine back pedaled most of the time to prevent the Filipino from scoring. At the 0:20 mark of the 7th round, Pacquiao hit Matthysse with a hard left uppercut that sent him on the canvass for the third and final round as he signaled Referee Bayless that he’s done and over.

Kenny Bayless waved his hands upwards to officially end the fight in favor of Manny Pacquiao. The fighting senator jumped off his feet and rejoiced because once again, he’s crowned king of boxing and recorded another knockout after almost a decade.
