On Facebook, Jeffrey Mejia Malibiran shared a video of the sweet marriage proposal by Lhear Roque to her girlfriend Chea Chea. In the midst of a heated basketball game, the referee called for an injury timeout. During the start of the third quarter, Roque was seen slumped to the floor in pain.

Friends and other players rushed to check on the ‘injured’ player. Roque continued to wince in pain, prompting the dutiful girlfriend to finally come near Roque to check on him. Little did she know that Roque’s friends already lined up to form the words: “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

In front of the other players, their friends and several spectators, Roque dropped to one knee and went all romantic as he promised forever to the love of his life. Chea Chea had the surprise of her life and was almost in tears. Her resounding “yes” was followed by cheers from those who witnessed their memorable event.

The video of surprise wedding proposal has gone viral with over 100,000 views as of press time.


The overwhelmed girlfriend

Chea Chea shared that she was overwhelmed with emotion after the proposal. She wrote on her Facebook page, “Hanggang ngayon naiiyak at kinikilig pa din ako.”

She also revealed that the surprise proposal was well attended by their family. Her mother, cousins, and the family of Roque were all present during the memorable basketball game.

The soon-to-be bride also shared how worried she was during the “prank.” Chea wrote, “Muntik na akong atakihin sa takot at kaba nang hindi makatayo si Lhe.”

In the end, Chea has nothing but praises for his soon-to-be groom, “At siyempre Mr. Injured, salamat sa pagtupad ng pangarap kong may lumuhod sakin para alukin ako ng kasal.”
