MANILA, Philippines - Back in 2013, former matinee idol Aga Muhlach penned a “Love Letter to Lea” for Tony Award Best Actress Lea Salonga as part of “Playlist Souvenir Book. A Celebration of Lea Salonga’s 35 years.

Recently, Muhlach’s love letter went viral, driving their fans crazy after a Twitter user posted the heartwarming note.

So what exactly did Muhlach write that sent their fans into a frenzy?

Despite being linked to several female celebrities, Muhlach revealed that Salonga, his former onscreen partner, was “the one that got away.” In the letter, the 47-year-old actor revealed that Salonga never knew that he loved her.

According to Muhlach, their movie Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal resurrected his career back in 1992.

“She never knew how she saved me. It was 1992, and I was at the very bottom of the industry. Walang-wala ako noon. Wala akong pera, wala akong career, but with Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal, I made my comeback. It was the right movie with the right girl at the right time. Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal resurrected my career,” Muhlach revealed.

The popular 90’s leading man also claimed that he loved his former co-star as he did all the characters she played in their movies.

“I wooed fair ladies and dreamed of shaping the world. And, to me Lea was Sandy—ethereal, aloof, unattainable; my very heart’s desire.”

“Lea was Agnes—vulnerable yet remote, kind yet callous, constantly engaged in a battle of wills. And I loved Andy and Agnes and Lea in equal measure.”

While both are happily married and have kids of their own, Muhlach said The Voice Teens coach will always have a special place in his heart.

“I love her still, but perhaps because she got away. I have her as a friend now, and so I will always have her. Anytime she needs me, andyan ako, anytime I need her, she’s there,” Muhlach wrote.

Shortly after the letter spread like wildfire on social media, fans went calling for a third movie starring the former onscreen partners. Star Cinema previously announced its plans for a reunion movie for the two but the plan had to be shelved due to conflicts in their schedule.
