As of this writing, the video has over 7 million views and more than 200,000 shares on Facebook.

Immediately after the video became a hot topic on social media, Perdido granted CNN Philippines an interview to shed light about the viral video.

According to Perdido, she and her husband had been working abroad for the past 7 years. They had no choice but to leave their 5-year-old daughter Ain and 3-year-old son with their parents as they seek greener pastures outside the Philippines. This year, Perdido decided to come home for good in order to take care of her growing children. However, Perdido’s husband had to come back to Maldives to provide for their family.

Unlike other OFWs who decide not to bring their children to the airport, Perdido allowed her kids to bid farewell to their father in order for them to express their emotions.

The painful moment was caught on video and instantly became a viral hit on social media as it tugged heartstrings of many Filipinos in the same situation.

“Heartbreaking moment of my daughter and husband at Davao International Airport .Eto talaga ang nakakalungkot sa mga OFW parents pag bumabalik na sa ibang bansa. I hope one day in Duterte's administration, Filipinos will no longer need to work abroad instead dito na mag trabaho sa sariling bansa natin,” Perdido wrote in the caption of the video.

Like many supporters of the the Duterte administration, Perdido is hopeful that the President would bring change to the country, particularly for OFWs who had to sacrifice time with their families just to make ends meet.

“Yung sa video kasi heartbreaking talaga siya. Hindi lang naman nangyari yan sa amen kundi sa lahat naman siguro ng parents na bumabalik sa abroad. Nakakalungkot man isipin kelangan eh. Alam ko nakikita yan at alam ni President Duterte kaya siya din mismo naghahanap din siya ng paraan para tayong mga Pilipino di na tayo magtratrabaho sa labas ng bansa para yung mga anak naten di na malulungkot,” Perdido told CNN.
