Gilas Pilipinas will be bannered by PBA veterans 'big man' JuneMar Fajardo and 'sparkplug' Terrence Romeo. The squad will be reinforced by NBA D-League Texas Legends shooting guard Bobby Ray Parks and naturalized Filipino and former Brooklyn Nets center Andray Blatche to match team France led by San Antonio Spurs all-star guard Tony Parker.

Other NBA stars will defend the French Flag here in Manila like Charlotte Hornets’ Nicolas Batum, Spurs forward Boris Diaw, Orlando Magic’s Evan Fornier, New Orleans Pelicans’ Alex Anjinca and and former Spurs Nando De Colo.

France is ranked fifth in the world by FIBA, while group mates New Zealand and the Philippines occupies the 21st and 28th spots, respectively.

TV5, which has previously broadcast the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, will have exclusive coverage of one of the three tournaments that will decide the remaining three places for the Olympic Basketball Tournament at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Gilas Pilipinas vs France

The National Team has just wrapped up its three-week intense training camp in Europe along with friendly games and pocket tournaments against Italy, Turkey and China. Coach Tab Baldwin’s ward lost three of their Europe tune-up games while winning only one against their Asian rivals China.

After the opening game versus France, Gilas will play New Zealand on Wednesday, July 6, still at 9:00 p.m. The Kiwis will be playing the entire tournament minus Oklahoma City Thunder Center Steven Adams.

The entire FIBA tournament will run from July 5 to 10.
