Will Darren Espanto leave the Philippines after 'The Voice Kids'?

Manila, Philippines - Fans and supporters of Canada-raised Filipino singer Darren Espanto have requested on micro-blogging site Twitter for the young artist not to leave the country despite not winning the title as the first-ever 'The Voice Kids of the Philippines' champion.

In an interview of Push.com, the Team Sarah's artist said he's still fortunate for placing second in the vocal competition where Caviteña Lyca Gairanod was hailed as grand winner.

"I feel very blessed and I feel happy na may sumuporta sa akin," Darren said in an interview on Sunday at Resorts World Manila.


Darren has admitted that he considers Lyca as his toughest competitor in the contest. He expects his name for the title but also expecting Lyca to emerge as the winner.

When asked if he will be staying in the country or if he will be going back to Canada where he was raised and became finalist of reality television show 'The Next Star', Darren said that he might choose not to leave if he will be offered projects here in the Philippines.

"Kung may offer I’ll stay here po," he relayed. But one thing is for sure, Darren will keep on doing what he loves. "I’ll continue my singing," he said.

Darren and the other 'Voice Kids' artists will be doing a charity concert called "Boses ng Bulilit, Kami Ulit! for the benefit of recent typhoon victims in the next few days.

Darren also shared his biggest lesson that he has learned from his coach Sarah in the competition.

"Always stay humble. “Well, ‘Im just thankful po,” he concluded.
