According to Calvento, the latest development could very well be the 'tipping point' on Vhong's case.

"I met with someone who was trying to facilitate the surrender and turning as State Witness of someone from the accused on the Vhong Navarro case.", Calvento revealed.

Calvento is referring to the identity of the JOHN DOE ( legal term to people whose identity remains anonymous) who went with Zimmer Raz and Bernice Lee. He was the one holding the duct tape as viewed through the CCTV in the elevator.

Calvento was given the chance to talk to this person through someone who was trying to facilitate the surrender of one of the accused.

"He even made me talk to the suspect on the phone and this person with a deep voice kept on crying and asked me to help him. He asked me to help give him protection," Calvento stated.

"He was very scared of Cedric Lee and I said that Sec. Leila Delima can assign NBI agents to do guard him," the veteran broadcaster added.

Calvento said the testimony of the alleged state witness is explosive. The details where, what time and when the planning of the setting up of Vhong Navarro was given to him. The place where they had dinner was also revealed.

April 27, 2014 Update: Tony Calvento on Buzz ng Bayan revealed that Jed Fernandez is the alleged state witness on the Vhong Navarro mauling case but already backed-out.

Calvento said he was supposed to turn in the suspect last Wednesday at the latest but said he was going to do that after the Holy Week.

The respected journalist posted series of updates on his Facebook page. On Friday, as he announced the big news, his followers thought it's about the warrant of arrest for the serious illegal detention case.

The journalist clarified on Saturday that warrants of arrests are not issued on holidays and that includes Holy Thursday up to Easter Sunday.

DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima confirmed last Monday that Taguig Municipal Trial Court (MTC) Branch 74 has issued arrest warrants for grave coercion case against Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and five others filed by actor-host Vhong Navarro.

Though the warrant of arrest is bailable, the accused which also includes Bernice Lee, Simeon "Zimmer" Raz, Jose Paolo Calma, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Jed Fernandez decided not to post bail.

The warrant effectively prevents Lee and company from leaving the country. However, Guerrero tried to leave the Philippines on April 14 but the Bureau of Immigration (BI) didn't allowed him to leave unless he get a clearance from BI and Deportation Commissioner Sigfried Mison.

Calvento also revealed: "If things go well the person even added that one of the accused who had managed to slip out of the country is willing to come back and turn the tables on Cedric and the others."
