Inspite of some irregularities and delays due to malfunctioning PCOS machines, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. is confident of swift election results.

"Winners for municipal positions will be proclaimed probably within 12 to 24 hours," Brillantes said in an interview on election day at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Announcement of results, he noted, "may take a little bit longer"--probably 36 hours--for provincial and congressional elective positions.

"[For] national [positions], our target is 48 hours, Wednesday night," Brillantes said.
Brillantes noted that he expects a 70-percent voter turnout in the country's second automated elections.
