Palace: 3 Christmas bonuses for 1.2 million government officials

Malacanang Palace on November 16 announced that 1.2 million Philippine government officials are about to receive three (3) bonuses this December 2012 (Christmas Season).

Abegail Valte, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson of the Office of the President revealed in a press briefing that the three bonuses are the other half of the 13th month pay, the Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) and the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB).

Valte said the first tranche of the 13th month pay had been given in May and the second one will be released this November.

The PEI will be released in December, Valte said, and “I will consult with the agencies when their target release for the PBB is.”

Valte said that the government allocated funds for PEI so that everyone will get equal amount.

Valte explained that the amount that employees would get from PBB would range from P5,000 to P35,000 depending on the worker’s performance merits.

in recent reports, Makati City alone will release P267.3 million for the Christmas bonuses of it's 8,200 employees.

The Philippine Labour Code mandates employers to give their workers the 13th month pay on or before Christmas Eve or Dec.24 while other bonuses, which are optional can be granted anytime, depending on the company’s availability of funds.
