MANILA, Philippines – 'Bagyong Crising' accelerates west-northwestward and now in the vicinity of Lanao del Sur, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 8:00 am update on Friday, May 14, 2021.
The tropical depression is likely to emerge over the Sulu Sea in the next 6 to 12 hours, said PAGASA.
It made landfall in Baganga, Davao Oriental, at 8:20 pm. on Thursday.

At 7:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression 'Crising' was estimated based on all available data at In the vicinity of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
'Crising' has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 75 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h.

Today, light to moderate with at times heavy rains may be experienced over Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao City, Davao del Sur, Cotabato, Maguindanao, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Misamis Occidental.
Under these conditions, isolated flash flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.

Strong breeze conditions are likely over the localities where Signal No. 1 is in effect, especially in the coastal and mountainous areas of these localities.
Hazards affecting coastal waters
In the next 24 hours, under the influence of Tropical Depression 'Crising', moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the seaboards of areas under Signal No. 1 (1.2 to 2.8 m).
Mariners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over these waters. Inexperienced mariners of these vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
'Crising', the third tropical cyclone for 2021, developed into a tropical depression at 2 am on Thursday, May 13.
PAGASA predicts that 1–4 tropical cyclones are expected to form between April and June.
On average, there are 20 tropical cyclones that could form or enter the PAR each year. Only half of those are projected to make landfall.
