'Bagyong Quiel' PAGASA weather forecast November 7, 2019

MANILA, Philippines – 'Bagyong Quiel' (international name: Nakri), the 17th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year, remains almost stationary, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 5:00 am forecast on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

PAGASA added that Tropical Storm 'Quiel' is less likely to make landfall in the country throughout the forecast period. Furthermore, this weather disturbance may intensify into a Severe Tropical Storm within 24 hours.

At 5:00 AM today, the eye of TS 'Quiel' was located based on all available data at 400km West Northwest of Coron Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h. It is moving East southeast in the past six hours.

"Bagyong Quiel is expected to leave PAR by Saturday, November 9," DOST-PAGASA weather specialist LorieDin Dela Cruz said.

TS Quiel and the Tail-End of a Cold Front will bring light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Apayao, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and portions of Palawan (Cuyo Islands and Kalayaan Islands).

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will be experienced over Aklan, Iloilo, Guimaras, Oriental Mindoro, and the rest of Palawan (including Calamian Islands).

Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the northern and western seaboards of Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions.

Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor Typhoon Halong outside PAR, at 2,990 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.
