MANILA, Philippines – Classes have been suspended in several areas on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 due to southwest monsoon (Habagat) being enhanced by Tropical Storm Hanna (Lekima).

In the 11:00 am bulletin today, PAGASA said that moderate to heavy monsoon rains will be experienced over the northern portion of Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands), Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, and Western Visayas until Tuesday.

The weather central added that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Visayas.

PAGASA added that 'Bagyong Hanna' remains less likely to make landfall on any part of the country.

There are no areas under tropical cyclone warning signals as of press time.

This tropical cyclone is expected to intensify into a Severe Tropical Storm within 24 hours.

According to the automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, the local government units (LGUs) have the authority to declare local suspensions in areas where there is no storm signal.
