QS: 4 Philippine schools among world's top universities 2020

MANILA, Philippines – Four of the country's best schools were included in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2020, with results of the study released on Wednesday.

The University of the Philippines (UP) held the top spot for the Philippines, placing 356th, up by 28 notches from last year, in the top 1,000 institutions from around the world.

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) also climbed in the international rankings, 601-650th spot from 651-700th last year.

De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) are still on 801-1000th position.

Published annually, the QS World University Rankings provides an index of the world’s leading higher education institutions, based on six performance indicators such as academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), faculty/student ratio (20%), citations per faculty (20%), international faculty ratio (5%) and international student ratio (5%).

The top five (5) in the list were Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Harvard University, California Institute of Technology, University of Oxford and University of Chicago.

In Asia, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore grabbed the top spot previously occupied by National University of Singapore (NUS). Tsinghua University, Peking University and University of Tokyo ranked third to fifth, respectively.
