Teacher Nelma passes LET after 8 tries, shares inspiring story

Nelma Dahimulla of Siasi, Sulu is over the clouds after she finally achieved her dream of being a licensed teacher. And while it's true that some dreams are easy to reach, it took Nelma 8 tries before finally achieving hers.

On Facebook, Nelma shared her inspiring story of how she never gave up hope despite hurt and disappointment of failing. The proud teacher shared that when she first failed the LET, she only got a score of 68. Nelma consoled herselt by saying, "Ah, wala to first time ko kasi kaya nanibago lang siguro tapos wala pang review."

But after failing the second, third time, it dawned on her how her failures affected herself and her family. Amidst heartbreak, she tried to hide the pain from her parents.

Nelma wrote, "Nakakadown talaga yung ganoon yung tipong paglabas ng result gusto mong umiyak sa harap ng parents mo at sabihin na bagsak kana naman kasi you can see in their faces kung gano sila kalungkot for you pero hindi tatawa lang ako at sabihin lang may exam pa naman ulit."

For Nelma, passing the LET meant not only pursuing her passion for teaching but a fulfillment of her parents dreams as well.

She said, "Kailangan ko bumangon hindi lang para sa mga taong gusto akong lumaban and sa mga taong naniniwala sa akin, like mga pamilya ko pero dahil pangarap namin ito. Gusto ko ito maachieve at mas maging proud pa ang parents ko sa akin at magawa ko ang gusto kong gawin that is to inspire other people through my profession."

Things changed when Nelma enrolled in a review center. Not only did she reviewed her lessons but she also had a change of outlook.

Nelma explained, "In [this review center], they don't just teach you lessons para sa exam but they also teach you how to trust and believe in yourself and Him."

It was then that Nelma became more confident when she took the LET for the eighth time.

Finally on May 25, 2019, Nelma achieved her once "unreachable dream." She recalled how with sweaty hands and slow internet connection, she finally found her name in the list of March LET Secondary level passers.

While her heart soared in happiness, it was her mother's expression that made her happier.

Nelma wrote, "Priceless ang mukha nila. Iyon ang mas nagpasaya sakin kay sa sa result. Grabe sila. Kita mo pagka proud nila eh."

The proud LET passer thanked [review center] for helping. She also wished to inspire other LET "repeaters" to not give up.

Nelma wrote, "God has perfect plan for you. Don't lose hope, always have faith in you and of course sa kanya! Humingi ka sa kanya ibibigay niya iyan sa tamang panahon, 'di man ngayon, sa susunod baka ibigay nya na. Naghihintay lagi sya ng perfect timing para satin besh."
