MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has completed the election tally and released final, official results ahead of proclamation of senators to be held at 10 am today, May 22, 2019 as well as the winning party-list groups at 7pm.
The first proclamation had been tentatively scheduled on Sunday but was reset on Tuesday. But on Tuesday, the Comelec announced that the proclamation will not push through on the day; instead, it was moved to Wednesday because the poll body was still tallying the election returns from Saudi Arabia and waiting for the election returns from Washington.
With last certificate of canvass from Washington DC successfully transmitted and received by the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) at 11PM, Tuesday, the canvassing of votes finally ended at past 1AM on Wednesday.
All the 167 Certificates of Canvass (COCs) have been accounted for.
Amid questions on the integrity of the 2019 elections due to the system glitch that caused the transparency server to stop showing results for several hours, a lot of voters are questioning the validity of the results.
But poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) announced that they found no discrepancies in the election returns from the Comelec central server and the transparency server.
Cynthia Villar led the final tally with 5,283,727 votes. Grace Poe came in second place with 22,029,788 votes and Christopher "Bong" Go followed with 20,657,702 votes.
