Despite having only one leg, Jean Arija Daipal walks to school a total of 4km per day so she could fulfill her dreams. Her story has inspired her teachers and many netizens.

According to school principal Junar T Mahilum, the young girl had to walk to school from their house 2km away; at the end of the day, she has to go back and walk the same distance. The long walk was difficult for the young girl due to her condition, yet this did not stop her from going to school.

Back when Mahilum was still designated as the OIC/TIC of the school several years ago, they gave Jean an award for her perseverance. This had inspired the girl to continue going to school and reach for her dreams.

Now that she graduates from elementary at their school in Toboso, Negros Occidental, the principal was very proud of this girl who was able to defy the odds. According to Mahilum, he admires her perseverance and determination to graduate. He hopes that she would be an inspiration to many other students who are struggling with their own challenges.

Mahilum also mused that he admired her graduation wish – that she could have an artificial leg so she could walk better like normal people and finish her studies. He admired that she still has her education as her priority despite the hardships she had to face each day as she walks to school.

He was also impressed that Jean wanted to be a doctor someday so she could help other people who also have disabilities like herself! Truly, this girl is an inspiration to many.

Thanks to the principal’s post, a lot of people learned of Jean’s story. Many offered to help and there were those who are willing to help get her a motorized wheelchair or an artificial leg, just like she wished.
