MANILA, Philippines – The magnitude 6.1 earthquake that rocked Metro Manila and several parts of Luzon resulted to damages of roads, buildings and properties and even claimed the lives of at least (8) people.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the center of the earthquake was in Castillejos, Zambales.
Intensity 5 was felt in San Felipe, Zambales; Malolos and Obando, Bulacan; Quezon City; Lipa, Batangas; City of Manila; Abucay, Bataan; Valenzuela City; Magalang, Pampanga.
Intensity 4 was also felt in Pasig City; Makati City: Caloocan City; Meycauyan and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan; Floridablanca, Pampanga; Villasis, Pangasinan; Tagytay City;Baguio City; Marikina City; Las Pinas City.
Intensity 3 was experienced in Dasmarinas, Indang, and Gen. Trias in Cavite; Lucban, Quezon; Muntinlupa City; Cabanatuan City; Palayan City; Gapan City; as well as Santo Domingo and Talavera in Nueva Ecija.
At least 57 aftershocks have been recorded as of press time.
Phivolcs added that the earthquake was 'not a major earthquake, but a strong one'. They also calmed fears and denied that another “big” quake might occur next.
As of the moment, authorities are still looking into the extent of the damage. Netizens, however, were quick to share videos and photos of the earthquake in their area.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said they are monitoring the reported power outages in the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Pampanga and Bataan.
In Pampanga, several reports of cracked bridges and roads and even fallen arc have been noted.
Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda said there were reports of downed electrical posts after the earthquake.
“Almost all concrete electric posts in the barangay in Lubao have fallen down," she said.
The arc between Lubao and Bataan province had collapsed.
Gov. Pineda also said that there are already 5 deaths confirmed in Pampanga. 2 from Lubao and 3 Porac were pronounced dead after a building fell. (UPDATE: Recent update from authorities said death toll rises to 8 while 20 were hurt).

Walls and halls caved in in parts of Clark International Airport due to the quake. All flights have been cancelled for at least 24 hours until damages have been properly assessed.
